Adoption events support (Dog & Kitten)

Responsibilities: Provide support on the day of the adoption event, including caring for the pets at the event (potty breaks for dogs, kitten care). Assist with set up and break down of space, including required signage. Greet the public and provide assistance in answering their questions about Silicon Valley Pet Project, Pup Plaza, fostering, etc.

Requirements: Animal handling skills and/or great customer service skills. Knowledge of  Silicon Valley Pet Project; its history, mission, and procedures. 

Time Commitment: We hold weekly dog adoption events on site and kitten adoption events monthly. Each event is typically 3-4 hours.

Responsibilities: We are looking for enthusiastic people who like to chat with people and promote our mission of saving lives. Duties include helping us spread the word about our programs and mission via Nextdoor, social media and community events.

Requirements: Desire to make a difference and spread the word about SVPP's mission.

Time Commitment: Very flexible, depending on event/s.

Community outreach volunteer


Responsibilities: Capture photos of dogs (with and without volunteers) for marketing, promotion and social media purposes. Training or experience in photography preferred, experience with digital editing tools a big plus.

Requirements: Photography skills. 

Time Commitment: Varies. Our Shelter Dog Day Out program is held weekly and we like to have a photographer come to take photos during each session.

Dog Day Out PHotographer


Responsibilities: As a Transport Driver, you will pick up shelter dogs from the SJ Animal Care Center and deliver them to our Pup Plaza location in the morning and return the dogs in the afternoon. The Transport Driver ensures proper paperwork is collected on the morning run and returned with the dogs on the afternoon run. Crates are provided by the shelter, ensure that all crates to ensure they are properly closed on all sides and secured safely in vehicle.

Requirements: Valid CA Driver’s License required, & transport vehicle must have adequate space for crates.

Time Commitment: Varies but typical transport and drop off takes about an hour.

Dog DaY Out Transport Driver


Responsibilities: As a part of a team, work together in releasing dogs from their crates, harness, leash and supervise them as they acclimate to the area. Engage with dogs in all approved activities, walking, light training and play, limited treats.

Requirements: Flexibility working with various sizes and types of dogs, walking on leash. Able to lift up to 20-pound dog, comfortable with high energy dogs, dogs that pull on leash or that have no leash training.

Time Commitment: Shifts are 3 hours on Mondays from 10:30 am to 3:30pm.

Events Planner

Responsibilities: Coordinate and supervise the volunteers in planning adoption, fundraising and special events such as booths at local festivals and community events to promote SVPP's message and community participation.

Requirements: Strong organizational and supervisory skills, enjoy working with people and pets, prior event planning experience preferred.

Time Commitment: 10-15 hrs/month

Responsibilities: Provide support in helping us promote our events via social media, Nextdoor, based on the event/program and target audience.

Requirements: Knowledge of social media, online calendars, event promotion experience preferred.

Responsibilities: Coordinate tasks and activities for new and existing programs at Pup Plaza. Must be detail-oriented, able to multi-task, strong project management skills required. Team player with a sense of humor!

Requirements: Enjoy working with people and pets, great communication skills, attention to detail and great at follow thru on tasks.

Time Commitment: 10-15 hrs/month
