This month, we interviewed Mamba... a young, beautiful Labrador Retriever/Shepherd mix who is about 2-½ years old. He tells his story below but here’s a spoiler alert. We need your help to find Mamba a home. Please read on...and see Mamba in action here!
Hi Mamba! It’s nice to meet you. Can you tell us how you ended up with SVPP?
Well, it’s a long but it’s good and I’ll be quick!!! SVPP rescued me from the Tri-City Shelter. Boy, did I need SVPP! I was struggling with medical issues and oh no — got diagnosed with Heartworm. I had some anxiety from life challenges and shelter stress. As you can tell, I had a ruff start! But, wIth lots of patience and care from my foster family and the SVPP team, I’m healthy and happy and ready to find my forever family.
Can you tell us more about your time with your foster family?
I have an amazing foster family that took me in, loved me and helped me blossom! I have worked with the folks at Canine Engineering and the Underdog Academy, and boy, am I accomplished now! I got leash training, had positive time with other dogs, learned lots of commands — and I’m still learning more! I’ve been so lucky to get training and trail work from SVPP’s large dog volunteer, Kevin. And, did I mention that my foster parents, Lorie and Tony, and volunteer Andrea take me out for neighborhood walks and trail hikes every day? I can easily do 2-3 miles and am the best walking companion ever!
Mamba, how do you like to spend your time?
I love being with my people! There is nothing better than to be pet, rubbed and loved! But, there are a few things that come close! A ride in the car, a nap, hanging out in the backyard in the sun...oh, and, then there are the walks and hikes! Life is good!
I know SVPP is looking for your forever family. What kind of home would be perfect for you — other than a place with lots of car rides, hikes and naps?
I need a little time to relax and get used to new settings so, a home that is willing to let me acclimate would be so ideal! As for company — along with my people — I would love a big dog brother or sister who would help me build confidence. A calmer setting — without lots of noise or chaos (and no little kids or cats) — would work so well! I can stay home alone for four to five hours at a stretch, and would happily welcome you home!
I have great potential and immense love to give. I hope you will consider adopting me.
