Hello! I’m Star and I am looking for my forever home! I’m an American Bulldog mix who is a happy camper today, but that wasn’t the case a few months ago. I was found roaming the streets of San Leandro alone, shortly after I became a mama to a litter of puppies. I was in rough shape, hurting from dog bite wounds on my head, and skin and ear infections. SVPP and the Tri-City Shelter worked together to rescue me and give me a second chance!
Since being in foster care, I’ve adapted quickly! I’m learning about love and a happy life, one treat at a time. Speaking of treats, give me a banana-filled squeaky Kong toy, and I’m in heaven! I hear there is a pandemic that’s keeping us inside a lot, but I don’t mind at all because none of my favorite pastimes — playing with toys, snacking on treats, and taking long, leisurely naps — require going outside. What can I say? I’m easy to please.
I’m a good student during my training sessions. I’m now leash-trained (daily short walks are another one of my pandemic-friendly hobbies!) and crate-trained and am trying my best to be a good co-pilot during car rides, though I sometimes get queasy. Jelly beans help me feel better during the rides. Like I said — I love treats!
I love the comfortable, safe feeling of routine, and thrive in predictable environments. While I’m cautious around other dogs, I’m very drawn to humans and am not shy about showing affection! A family who can appreciate my calm, gentle demeanor and reward me with treats (did I mention I love treats?) and belly rubs would be a perfect match for me. I like to give my foster mom and dad puppy eyes while resting my chin against them while they work, to remind them to take breaks from the computer. Check out this video of a time when my foster mom caught me in action!
Before I take my next nap, I wanted to let you know that SVPP is in the midst of its biggest annual fundraiser, Strut Your Mutt. Please consider donating to our team by October 24, 2020 so that SVPP can rescue more pets like me who need medical attention, foster care, a forever family, and treats!
