Hi everyone! My name is Simba and I’m a pitbull terrier mix searching for my furever home. My foster mom Amelia, who has been taking loving care of me for the past three months, says I’m the best dog she’s ever fostered! She’s a professional dog trainer with 15 years of experience. She has had pitbulls her whole life, and has fostered six dogs including me — that shows how much love Amelia has for us! I’m also SVPP’s Adoptable Dog of the Month.
In case you need a little convincing, here are four reasons why you should consider bringing me home as your newest family member and best friend:
1. I’m a sweet, happy-go-lucky boy. My tail is always wagging, I love playing with my teddy bear toy by throwing it in the air and chasing it around, and as you can see in my photos, I’m almost always smiling!
2. I’m well trained. Before I was rescued by SVPP, I already had excellent manners and was already potty trained. Over the last three months, I’ve learned a lot from my foster mom, who’s an awesome teacher. Within a few days, I learned how to sit, lay down, stay, come, go to my bed, and shake hands (check out the video below to see me in action!) I’m always up for learning new tricks, especially when there are treats involved! I’ve gotten good at not pulling while on walks and am an excellent companion for strolls around town.
3. I’m easygoing. One of my favorite hobbies is napping! If I’m not sleepy, I’m still totally happy to just lounge around with my human. Sometimes I snore a little while sleeping, but that’s just because I’m so relaxed and dreaming about my teddy bear toy, Kongs or treats (more likely, all of the above). Since restaurants with outdoor seating have opened up again, I love to chill out next to my foster mom and say hello to new friends as they pass by. I’m exceptional with people, including children.
4. I’m a fun travel buddy. I’m a big road trip fan! During car rides, I like to stick my head out the window and feel the cool wind and fresh air on my face. Because I had some broken teeth taken out, sometimes I drool a little, but at least I’m a gentleman and make sure not to get any on the car seats, right?
You can learn more about me here, but I thought I’d share a few other details that will help us live happily ever after together!
Cats aren’t my favorite. But, I usually get along with other dogs!
Since I sometimes get ear infections, I have to have my ears cleaned once a week.
I love spending time with my humans and miss them when they’re not around, so I’ll let it be known by barking. I’m working on getting better about this!
Because I’m a big boy with good energy and vocal chords, a home with lots of space would be better for me than an apartment.
